Come learn from three ‘head chefs’ in small groups some creative and exciting dishes. Each week will alternate baking or cooking, with kitchen safety tips and themes mixed in! The final week face off in your groups for a kitchen contest with local culinary judges. This program is all about fun in the kitchen!

Masset Kids Horse Club is a continuation of last years horse program with the addition of run, jump, throw, wheel. In case you're wondering run, jump, throw, wheel is the elementary version of track and field. This year, not only will the participants get the chance improve their self-confidence with horses but they will also get a chance to develop physical literacy with a variety of obstacle courses, and games all while enjoying the magic of horses.
Find out moreIn this program, you will have a chance to learn about storytelling, interviewing, photography, and more. Over six sessions, you will work with Instructors and Guests to turn your lens on your own community and create art and writing that tell the stories that are important to you. Explore social justice issues and learn how to use art and writing to be an advocate for change. Work as part of a team to publish a single-edition newspaper. Select pieces will even appear in the Haida Gwaii Observer!

Not only will participants get the chance improve their self-confidence with horses but they will also get a chance to develop physical literacy with a variety of obstacle courses, and games all while enjoying the magic of horses. This slight variation on Horse Club will let kids be more active with horse themed games and stengthening exercises while working on ground work with the horses.

The instructors will lead participants in games and in making unique environmentally themed arts and crafts. Come with weather appropriate clothing, boots, and creativity!

SEIDO KARATE Seido seeks to develop in each student a 'non-quitting' spirit. No matter what the obstacle or difficulty -- emotional, physical, financial -- we want students to feel empowered to overcome any challenge. This modern interpretation of the samurai's bushido spirit is what the sincere practice of karate can develop in an individual regardless of age, ability or background. Our inclusive mission allows for drill modifications and other considerations for body safety, so anyone who wants to train can participate while still being challenged. Classes will include a combination of: -Practical Self Defence -Formal Karate Skills -Karate & Seido History -Games! Mondays October 15 – December 17 (No program November 12th) 3:00-5:00pm Tahayghen small Gymnasium Grade 4-7 | maximum 15 participants | healthy snacks provided

This program is aimed at new, beginner and intermediate archers who are interested in learning the basics of archery and developing their shooting with guided practice at a range. At the end of the program students will have an understanding of use and care of equipment, standard range procedures, correct shooting technique and strategies for improving their shooting. We will be shooting traditional style using re-curve bows. Students can use their own equipment from home provided that the bow has a suitable draw weight and arrows are correctly matched.

Come and learn some fun tap steps in this one-off open soft-shoe tap class. Participants are not required to wear or own tap shoes and will instead learn in socked or slippered feet. Broadway soft-shoe tap is rooted in English theatrical tradition and often focuses on formations, choreography and generally less complex rhythms; it is widely performed in musical theatre. Think Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly!

Class begins with the Limon Floor Sequence, some standing work and a weekly improvisation challenge. Each week we work together to build a piece of choreography using the EXPRESS DANCE Method designed by Karen & Allen Kaeja. *Class is limited to Masset Dance Troupe participants.
